The retail value of coffee
Coffee lovers pay up to $26/lb for fine Ethiopian coffees because they're willing to pay for high quality and great taste.  But poor farmers who have grown this fine coffee for generations don' t see much of the profits.

The profit disparity Ethiopian coffee farmers often collect only about 10 percent of the profits from these coffees and the rest goes to the international coffee industry players who can control the retail price.

Of the retail value of a bag of gourmet beans, it is the foreign importers, roasters, and retailers which take the bulk of the profit.
